Metabraille is a mobile Braille keyboard. This keyboard can be used to remotely control iOS and Android smartphones as well as PCs via Bluetooth. The assembly is designed for people with visually impairements or blindness. Metabraille was developed in a participatory design thinking process as part of the Define project.

Our labels are accessible to people with good view, blindness or visual impairments. Our labels were developed in a participatory Design thinking process as part of the Define project.

Rosetta

Rosetta is a 3D-printable alphabet for people who are blind or visually impaired to learn cursive writing. Rosetta consists of a Braille alphabet, tactile block letters, and cursive letters in upper and lower case. The tactile alphabets are generated using [OpenSCAD](https://openscad.org) scripts and our tactile labelmaker "Define Beschriftung". The idea and development came from our [Do-it-blind group (DIB)](/projects/do-it-blind).

The sources have been published in our repository.

We published the model on Thingiverse for printing.

Project for inclusive, digital work

The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland held a do-it-yourself/maker course. Participants with blindness or visual impairments developed their own Braille remote control for smartphones and PCs. Work was carried out using digital manufacturing processes (3D printing) in Vienna's makerspaces (open workshops) from September 2022 to August 2023.

In the process, new forms of digital and inclusive collaboration were developed. Together, we designed prototypes in many small steps.

We make the maker movement accessible to people who are blind or visually impaired. You are invited to our weekly online meetings on Mondays at 7 p.m. in BigBlueButton. Once a month, we meet at metalab and work on our projects.

You can find current project information on our metalab wiki page. You can contact the project's user group and receive the latest invitations via our mailing list dib@lists.metalab.at.

In 2022 and 2023, we implemented the objectives of the Do-it-blind (DIB) project as part of the Define project.

During implementation, people with visual impairments or blindness were given access to Make(r)spaces and digital manufacturing techniques.
