Metabraille

Metabraille is a mobile Braille keyboard. This keyboard can be used to remotely control iOS and Android smartphones as well as PCs via Bluetooth. The assembly is designed for people with visually impairements or blindness. Metabraille was developed in a participatory design thinking process as part of the Define project.

The keyboard housing of the Metabraille mobile Braille keyboard is red and made of plastic (125 x 95 x 25 mm). The housing is rectangular, with a flat, trapezoidal extension on the long side. The shape resembles a house with windows in the centre. The ten keys are white and rectangular. Eight keys are arranged in four rows and two columns on the flat front.

Tactile labels

Our labels are accessible to people with good view, blindness or visual impairments. Our labels were developed in a participatory Design thinking process as part of the Define project.

3D printed name signs on a coarse chipboard. The names are on the signs in braille and profile script. Before the text, the signs have a semicircle with a semicircular recess in the middle. The braille points and the profile script are white or yellow. The base plate of the signs is green, black, white or gray.

Tactile maps

We manufacture inclusive orientation plans for venues with labels written with profile- and braille-characters.

White writing and drawing on three black plates. Platte with floor plan from a castle with three round corner towers is supplemented by a legend in profile and a legend in braille.

Rosetta

Rosetta is a 3D-printable alphabet for people who are blind or visually impaired to learn cursive writing. Rosetta consists of a Braille alphabet, tactile block letters, and cursive letters in upper and lower case. The tactile alphabets are generated using [OpenSCAD](https://openscad.org) scripts and our tactile labelmaker "Define Beschriftung". The idea and development came from our [Do-it-blind group (DIB)](/projects/do-it-blind).

The sources have been published in our repository.

We published the model on Thingiverse for printing.
